Birthday Blocks on their way to Missouri!

****If you are planning to do the "Aiming For Accuracy Quilt-Along" with me, the designer just released coloring sheets so that we can start playing around with our fabric choices and deciding how we best want to use them and for which blocks, etc.  You can find the coloring sheets by clicking on this link:

If you are reading this blog post from an email message...you must visit my actual blog for the links to work.

Now let's get back to the focus of this blog post....BIRTHDAY BLOCKS!  Yes, I've been able to take a short break from making them, but we have another quilter in Missouri who is expecting blocks to arrive in her mailbox now. :)

Debra requested her birthday blocks be made from fabrics in "old deep reds, olive/stone greens, old golds and if a neutral was needed....creams".

This first block is called "Tile Works", designed by Monique Dillard.....

This second block is called "Scarlet Days", designed by Kimberly Jolly.....

Both of these blocks were found in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, 2nd Edition.

Do you see the center star in the block?  This little baby is only 4 1/2" square.....

And to dissect this tiny center block even more.....the four teeny little flying geese blocks that are within the construction of this tiny block are on 1" x 2"....

I don't believe I've ever made a flying geese that small! :) :)

The basic assembly of the birthday block is easy....just tedious when working with such small pieces.  Of course, I guess it wasn't too bad because thankfully I didn't have to do any "ripping out" and sewing over.  That's always a plus! :)

Happy Quilting!
