As you can see, I was able to finish making the eight Tree blocks needed for my quilt guild's Design Challenge project. Sewing the blocks into rows went together with no problems thankfully.
My only hint would be to always sew with the Tree block on top so that you can see the lower "corners" of the tree and ensure you don't chop the corners off with your seam (even if you have to fudge a little bit to do it!) :) :)
I'm currently searching through my stash of fabrics to choose one to use as horizontal sashing strips in between the rows and top/bottom. Once I find something, I will share the next step in constructing the quilt top. I've got a cute border idea to finish up the quilt.
On a totally different topic....I've received a few more sets of birthday blocks in the mail from online quilting friends.

I think there are only two more sets left to arrive before I can start constructing my Birthday Quilt top.
We've had more snow (with more to come) and the temperatures are frigid. It's very windy which makes it feel even colder. My crystal ball tells me that I'll be spending a lot of time in my sewing room...which hopefully means I'll get tons of stuff accomplished.

Your challenge quilt is really coming together. I love it! I can't wait to see what you do with your birthday blocks. I had a complete right knee replacement July 31st. Today was my 6 month check-up in Wichita and the Dr. was really pleased (as I am). It was cold and windy all day long with temps getting down to 12 degrees before noon and never getting any higher than 18. We had lots of errands to run and finally got home (we are 60 miles south of Wichita) around 4. On the way up we met a car that threw a rock and chipped my windshield so the car is spending the night in our local body shop to get that fixed. No sewing for me today but tomorrow is the local sewing group. Should be fun. Stay warm! Happy sewing!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that the healing process is going well concerning your knee replacement. Don't you just hate it when rocks from other vehicles hit our windows! That has happened to me more than once over the years. :( Our temps are similar. It was -1 at 8 am this morning with the expected high to only reach 12 degrees. I'm sure sewing with your friends today will help everyone forget about the cold temps for a little while. Have fun with your friends!
